At Home in the Forest takes a completely different approach from the traditional schooling methods that so many kids struggle with.  We know that children learn best when they feel motivated, connected and confident. We meet kids where they are and help them grow in ways that matter most.

 

Our days are filled with opportunities to build meaningful relationships, play and discover. When kids connect deeply with themselves, nature and other humans, they develop self-confidence and an authentic love of learning.

Excellence in reading and math.

 

The pandemic left many kids behind in reading and math and most schools don't have the resources to give each child the individualized attention they need.
 

Kids learn to read by reading, so we read together - with gentle, consistent guidance towards fluency and comprehension. In math, we emphasize understanding over memorization, helping students grasp key concepts and apply them in meaningful ways. We support kids each step of the way, with a focus on understanding and creativity. We lean into the joy of learning to help children overcome resistance to maximize their learning potential.

Social, emotional and mental wellness.

At Home in the Forest blends the benefits of forest school with a powerful approach to homeschooling. With very low student:teacher ratios we focus on kindness and healthy relationships, ensuring that each child is safe and supported within our program. We provide a space for kids to grow into adults who can thrive and create positive change in the world.

 

The creativity, confidence and emotional balance children develop outdoors naturally fuel their academic and personal growth. When that same energy is channeled into learning in key areas - like reading, math, and social-emotional awareness - the possibilities are limitless.​​​​​
