Agreement to Terms

Welcome to At Home in the Forest. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of our website athomeintheforest.com and participation in our forest school programs operated by Megan Davis in Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario.

By accessing our website or enrolling in our programs, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use our website or services.

Website Use

You may use our website for lawful purposes only. You agree not to:

  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the website

Program Enrollment

Enrollment in At Home in the Forest programs is subject to availability and acceptance. By enrolling your child, you acknowledge and agree that:

  • All information provided during registration is accurate and complete
  • You are the parent or legal guardian of the enrolled child
  • You will inform us of any medical conditions, allergies, or special needs
  • You will ensure your child is appropriately dressed for outdoor activities and weather conditions
  • Program fees are due as specified at the time of registration

Assumption of Risk

Forest school activities involve outdoor play and exploration in natural environments. By enrolling your child, you acknowledge that participation involves inherent risks including but not limited to:

  • Exposure to weather conditions (rain, cold, heat, sun)
  • Uneven terrain, mud, water features, and natural obstacles
  • Interaction with plants, insects, and wildlife
  • Physical activities such as climbing, running, and exploring
  • Use of age-appropriate tools under supervision

We take safety seriously and implement appropriate risk management practices. However, you accept these inherent risks as part of the forest school experience.

Health and Safety

To ensure the health and safety of all participants:

  • Children who are unwell should not attend programs
  • Parents must provide emergency contact information and medical consent
  • Allergies, medical conditions, and medications must be disclosed
  • We reserve the right to refuse participation if safety concerns arise
  • Parents are responsible for applying sunscreen and insect repellent before drop-off

Cancellation and Refunds

Cancellation and refund policies vary by program. Generally:

  • Cancellations must be made in writing via email
  • Refunds may be subject to administrative fees
  • No refunds for missed days due to illness or personal reasons
  • Program cancellations due to weather or unforeseen circumstances will be rescheduled or refunded

Photography and Media

We may take photographs or videos during programs for documentation, educational purposes, and promotional use on our website and social media. Parents will be asked to provide consent for their child's image to be used. If you do not consent, please inform us in writing, and we will ensure your child is not included in any published media.

Intellectual Property

All content on this website, including text, images, logos, and design elements, is the property of At Home in the Forest and is protected by copyright laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or use any content without our written permission.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, At Home in the Forest and Megan Davis shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of our website or participation in our programs. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount paid for the specific program in question.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless At Home in the Forest, Megan Davis, and any affiliated educators from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from your violation of these Terms or your child's participation in our programs.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Ontario.

Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of our website or services after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.
